Ruth Negga in Loving, a film about Mildred Loving and Richard Loving, both were litigants in the USA Supreme Court in 1967 in a case of Loving versus the Virginia state government, because they when against Virginia State law that forbids people of different race from marrying each other. Ruth Negga plays an African American woman Mildred Jeter who fell in love with a white man Richard Loving who is a builder in Caroline County in Virginia. Mildred and Richard were family friends before they fell in love. When Mildred became pregnant, Mildred and Richard decided to get married nonetheless aware this was against the law that interracial marriage goes against anti-miscegenation laws in Virginia, Mildred and Richard went to Washington D.C. to get married in 1958. Richard embarked in building a house for his wife Mildred in a place under a mile from Mildred’s family home.
